It is this sugar dependency that has led to many gaining weight. Therefore the only way to be slim is to overcome the sugar addiction. Talbott and Avena claim that rather than blaming personal behaviour, the focus should be on the aamount of junk food available or other environment factorsa. Avena claims that genetics, personal responsibility and the variety of sugary and fatty foods available are equally to blame weight gain.
